Shri Badrinath Dham Overview

Singhdwar, the temple's main entrance, is a colourful and wonderful sight. The temple has a little cupola on top, which is covered in a gold gilded roof, and is around 50 feet high. The Garbha Griha or the sanctum sanctorum of the Badrinath temple is divided into three parts: The Darshan Mandap, where rites are performed, and the Sabha Mandap, where pilgrims gather, are the second and third Mandaps respectively.

In front of the main idol of Lord Badarinarayan at the Badrinath Mandir Gate stands the Bird Garud, Lord Badarinarayan's transportation/carrier. As he sits, Garud's hands are folded and he appears to be in a state of wishful thinking. The intricate carvings on the mandapa's walls and pillars add to the splendour of the place.

In the Garbha Griha, Lord Badari Narayan, Kuber (God of riches), Narad rishi, Udhava, Nar, and Narayan are ensconced. There are 15 idols in the multipart. The finely crafted black stone sculpture of Lord Badrinath, standing one metre high, is particularly striking. Famous Shankara claims to have unearthed a Saligram stone statue of Lord Badarinarayan in the Alaknanda River. A cave near Tapt Kund's hot spring was where he first enshrined the artefact. The King of Garhwal transferred the murti to its current location in the temple in the 16th century. It depicts Lord Vishnu seated in Padmasan, a contemplative stance.

Badari Narayan is armed with a conch and a chakra in each of his two raised arms, while the other two are resting in a yogic stance on the Darshan Mandap. Under the Badari tree, Kuber and Garuda flank Badarinarayan, who is flanked by Narad, Narayan, and Nar. The right side of Badarinarayana is Uddhava, who may be seen. Nara and Narayana can be found on the far right. Narada Muni is hidden behind a kneeling figure on the right side of the stage. Prosperity god Kubera and silver Ganesh adorn the left side. Garuda is kneeling in front of Badarinarayana, to the left of him.
